Lately I’ve been thinking about how different our world is from what people experienced in the past, even 500 years ago, how far technology has come, how family structure, community, even the way we eat our food is so different. And I can’t even imagine with it was like for our first ancestors, let alone before the fall.

And I was thinking about how different the world will be after Christ returns, after there are new heavens and a new earth, after everything is restored and made new.

We can’t even begin to imagine just what that world will be like. And I think that’s part of why the Bible doesn’t say a whole lot about it. It’s just so far beyond our experience that we couldn’t grasp the enormity of the change.

Speaking of the good news of salvation through Christ Paul writes, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

But the good news is that God is preparing a place for us that were he is we will also be. And the Bible says that we will know God, even as we are known. And it says that in his presence is fullness of joy and pleasures for ever more.

We get just a taste of that now. It’s revealed to us through his Spirit, because we love him. And more importantly because He loves us.
