Righteous Judgment Like Pearls

In Jesus’s “Sermon on the Mount” Matthew records a verse that’s probably quoted by more non-Christians than Christian. Can you guess what verse I am thinking of (I know the title of the post probably gave it away)? Matthew 7:1 , “Judge not, that you be not judged.”

Asking The Right Question

Often when I find myself asking, “God, why am I going through this?” what I’m really saying is, “This isn’t fair, and I shouldn’t have to be going through this!”

Am I the only one?

We Remember You

Whether you do it every week, monthly, or just on special occasions, in communion we remember the death of Christ. We remember God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. We remember that Jesus was called to the cross. He was born to die.

The spirit of this principle carries through to us today.

Dedicated to the Lord

To be dedicated is to be set apart, to be committed and devoted to a cause, ideal or purpose. For a Christian parent to bring their child before the church and dedicate their child to God they are committing themselves to bringing up their child in a Godly way. They are setting their child apart for the Kingdom of God. And they are continuing a tradition that dates back to the first Jewish passover.

Desire [poetry]

It’s a different sort of love poem that I hope keeps you engaged and moving from line to line amused and excited by the unexpected. This is Desire. Desire My one desire is to know you as I am known, to know the number of hairs on your head, to know the intricate pattern revealed in the whorls on the ends of your fingers, to see the flaming sun reflected in the iris of your eyes, to know the rhythm of your breathing in darkness, to grasp the length and depth, the measure of the scars in the palms of your hands, to feel the heat of your...

Why We Tithe

Why We Tithe

Our understanding of why we give begins with a grateful heart acknowledging that everything we have comes from God. He gives it to us and simply asks us to use it well for his kingdom, for our benefit, and for the benefit of those around us. This is the first principle that should influence all that we do, especially in the area of our finances.
